CRAP Come Dine With Me. 9th February, 2025.
Sgt Andys (the author) choice was the Town of Ramsgate on Wapping Wall, a lovely old Thames riverside pub. The group departed our Crimehouse HQ for a nice stroll down to Town of Ramsgate. I chose the venue as the Sunday Roast is a carvery, which I feel is more traditional and harder to find outside of the big pub/restaurant chains.
Ruben the General Manager who had been very helpful with our booking from the start had saved the main window alcove table and provided a warm welcome. Chef de Jour Dave had been very thoughtful ahead of our arrival hiding some pork crackling as their last joint of pork had proved so popular ir was all but gone.
Chef Dave’s warm welcome was as strong as his patience when bombarded with repeated requests of ‘can I have some of that, can I have the crispy bit, can I have….:’
The roast beef and lamb joints were excellent, the roast spuds and Yorkshire pudding good. Many of our crew are members of the ‘If it’s Green, it’s trouble, if it’s Fried, get double’ club so the veg selection was sparsely touched in favour of the gravy at the end.
The wonderful flavour bursting; taste bud tickling Harvey’s Best Bitter was on tap and didn’t disappoint as an accompaniment.
Good food, great friendly and efficient service.
The desert menu was and may well remain the most incredible blend of traditional English puddings with a Celtic surprise thrown in which, I have always wanted to, but never had the opportunity to try.
I will say no more on the deserts, you only need to watch the video for the infectious reaction caused by our very own, the thinking of woman’s Paul Hollywood, Carrier of The King’s Communications, Eric.
Will most certainly be coming back and soon!

The Ericometer breaks new records!!
CRAP Come Dine With Me. 5th January, 2025.
Battleship Mat made a bold first choice of 2025, as you would expect given his daring-do on the high seas of Crimehouse Marina, The venue was The Ship and Whale, Rotherhithe.

An excellent afternoon and great Sunday Roast. A choice of Beef, Lamb, Pork and something for the meat dodgers, all at very reasonable prices. All ten lunch orders arrived to the table at the same time. Service was friendly, quick and professional. A big thanks to Battleship who generously bought wine for the table.

The Sticky Toffee Pudding got rave reviews from our very own, the thinking woman’s Paul Hollywood, Courier of The King’s Communications, Eric.
